Mawiage, Mawiage is what brings us here today.

Marriage IS what brings us here today.

This post was requested by my friend Dolly. We had a conversation about marriage and she suggested that I write a blog post about it.

Marriage to me is sacred and eternal. Marriages should be performed in the right place (the temple) to the right person (your eternal companion) at the right time (NOT 18 years old).

Having been 16, 17 and 18 years old already, I can tell you from experience that those ages are a time of self discovery and growth. It's a time to be selfish - to focus on yourself, what you want out of life, what you want to become and what you want to do for the rest of your life. To tell you the truth I think 99% of people don't even know themselves enough at this age to be able to eternally commit to anymore. This age is so hormonally charged and uncertain.

Gosh, the brain isn't even fully developed until age 21. Wouldn't you rather wait and make such an important decision that isn't fogged by hormones? I know I would.
I have another friend that agrees with me. She said " I want the choice I make to be one I am willing to live with for eternity, not for 5 years."

Is 18, 19 or even 20 old enough to make a decision that will last for eternity? I have to admit, in some rare cases it is. In RARE cases.

I'd like to get married when I'm 24. I'll be done with my bachelor's degree, I'll have saved enough money for a nice reception and maybe even a honeymoon. I'll hopefully have a good enough job to afford a house, so I won't have to live in someone's basement. Even if I decide to have a kid soon after I get married, I'll even be able to finish my master's degree.
I mean, I'm willing to get married before then, but I refuse to be married BEORE 21.

I've known a few people who have gotten married or will be getting married shortly. Unless their parents are helping the couple out financially, the reception is usually tacky, the couple moves into someone's basement, they go to park city for their honeymoon and that is most definitely NOT something I am willing to do!

Ok anyway, there you go Dolly!
